Thank you for an easy, helpful, educational way to re-certify my BLS. Wasn't sure how I would do this during Covid. Grateful for this option!

d like to change the comment I left last night concerning whether I should begin CPR on someone who is unconscious & unresponsive. I assume it has already been established by trying to arouse the person by tapping &/or gently shaking, & asking more than once "Are you OK?" If it is then determined that the person is unconscious & unresponsive, I would then check for pulse & breathing. You may regard that the check for pulse & breathing as beginning CPR; I regard it as the part of the process of determining whether CPR is required. If my check for breathing & pulse finds neither pulse nor breath, I declare "Starting CPR" &, if the person is not a drowning victim I begin CPR by delivering 2 chest compressions followed by 2 breaths; if the victim is a drowning victim I begin by delivering 2 breaths followed by compressions. However, if the person who is unconscious & unresponsive has a pulse & is breathing, I do not start CPR.
