An unresponsive patient that is unconscious should be properly assessed to make sure that CPR is necessary(pulseless/apneic). One question did not bring up assessing at all, just mentioned the patient was unconscious and unresponsive. A person in a coma is unconscious and unresponsive, we don't do CPR on them. ALSO we do CPR until someone of same level of care or higher can take over(or EMS). Ceasing CPR before EMS takes over is abandonment and can lead to death, seconds count.
