Healthcare - CPR / AED
As a former AHA CPR instructor for many years, I appreciate the opportunity to complete this course quickly from home. I do advise correction of 2 elements. A Healthcare Provider should no perform CPR just because a person is non-responsive, they should perform CPR if non-responsive and no pulse and no breathing. I got that wrong on the exam because the question simply reads "not responsive" so I indicated no CPR. People can be non-responsive for many reasons that don't require CPR. The other concern is the question that asks if CPR should be done until EMS arrive - the correct advise is that CPR should be performed until CMS personnel indicate that they are ready to take over. At my facility, the visiting EMS staff complained that staff stopped CPR when the EMS staff entered the building, but were not near the patient or taking over, so I always taught my staff to keep doing CPR until EMS staff indicate they are ready to take over.
